honouring the master of ceremonies
Join us as we sit and learn with Dan-e-o (of the Monolith Crew) and Keysha Freshh (of The Sorority) about the art of emceeing.
Dan-e-o began his career at the age of 13 when he won a Rap-Off Contest on Toronto’s “Electric Circus” dance show. Five years later, in 1996, his first single “Dear Hip Hop” was featured on Beat Factory’s Rap Essentials Volume One compilation. It is considered a Canadian hip-hop classic. Dubbed “Hip Hops kid sister”, Keysha Freshh had her first song published when she was 5 years old, and she performed her first written rap at the age of 12. In 2009, Keysha recorded her very first official single “Hollywood Fresh”, and in 2016 she would form the all women emcee crew The Sorority alongside Lex Leosis, Haviah Mighty, and pHoenix Pagliacci.
In addition to talking about their most noteworthy work as emcees during this session, we will also generate an informal workshop that will bring together lyricists and music creators (at all levels of knowledge) to share rhymes, techniques, questions and ideas in a supportive and inclusive environment.
